THE accountancy academy at JF Hornby & Co is celebrating after one of its earliest trainees achieved chartered status.
Luke Turner attained the coveted qualification after completing seven years of study, having joined JF Hornby & Co straight after finishing sixth form.
He is now among a growing number of Hornby Academy graduates who have benefited from fully funded training on the road to success.

Success: Luke Turner
Luke, a keen runner in his spare time and treasurer of the Hoad Hill Harriers, said: “As a runner, I’ve toughed it out in some pretty gruelling races, but this was certainly the longest marathon ever!
“It was a huge relief to reach the end of my training period and finally achieve chartered status.
“There has been a lot of hard work along the way, including the need to study outside of work – but the support I had from the team was amazing.
“I was given the time and space I needed to focus on exams, coursework, revision, and attending sessions with the course provider in Manchester.
“I’m now looking forward to continuing my work with the amazing businesses we have as clients.”
Luke is one of nine aspiring accountants to have joined the Hornby Academy straight from college, with a further four currently at various stages of their learning.

Pleased: Paul Hornby
The Academy was launched by the company’s Managing Director, Paul Hornby, in 2016 to address a shortage of skills in the area and offer young people an alternative to expensive university studies.
He said: “I’m over the moon for Luke. He’s a fantastic accountant and has continued to show great promise during his time with us.
“He has worked extremely hard over the last seven years to achieve chartered status, an accolade that does not come easily. It requires laser focus, determination, and a willingness to make sacrifices – all of which Luke has demonstrated.
“I’m proud that the Academy has produced yet another graduate. The investment we put into our learners is significant, but the rewards are equally huge, and I look forward to Luke being a part of our team for many years to come.”
