He may be into his sixth decade as an accountant – but John is still very much a part of life at JF Hornby & Co.
He is the firm’s founder and Chairman and has been a Chartered Accountant since 1968. He is a member of the Institute of Directors and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He also holds the Freedom of the City of London.
After training locally John moved into industry becoming Chairman and Managing Director of a listed plc. For his work as Consulate of Norway, John holds the impressive Knight First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of Merit, conferred on him by the King of Norway.
Paul Hornby MBE

Paul Hornby
Paul is a big picture thinker and visionary – and under his stewardship as Managing Director, JF Hornby & Co has enjoyed many years of successive growth.
He joined the firm in 2000 after previously studying for his degree and masters and also holds Chartered Accountant status.
Paul deals with a range of clients, giving advice on everything from start up to strategic direction and taxation matters. He also heads up the firm’s in house tax boutique providing a suite of bespoke services.
In the 2025 New Year’s Honours List, Paul was awarded an MBE. He is also Chairman and Owner of Barrow AFC.
Beverley Hornby

Beverley Hornby
Beverley is a Chartered Certified Accountant and a Divisional Director of the firm. She has been a key member of the business for nearly 15 years and manages the growing accountancy team.
Her approach is friendly, but extremely attentive and professional – qualities that have proven to be very popular, both with members of the JF Hornby team and our valued clients.
Beverley has a wealth of knowledge in taxation and as part of her role carries out tax compliance for the firm.
Beverley is the point of contact for most of the larger clients some of which have become personal friends over the years such is the quality and care she provides.
Mark Leadley

Mark Leadley
Mark joined the business in 2008 and is a Chartered Certified Accountant.
He has seen the business significantly develop over the time he has been a member of the team and is now Divisional Director.
Mark has a wealth of experience in accountancy practice and specialises in tax and VAT legislation including case law. He is extremely approachable and leaves no stone unturned in his approach to helping clients. Mark’s calm and measured approach, even at the busiest of times, is legendary and he very quickly puts clients them at ease.
Outside of work, Mark enjoys walking, reading and spending time with his young family.
Victoria Thompson

Victoria Thompson
Chartered Accountant Victoria has 18 years of practice experience and has spent the last eight at JF Hornby & Co.
She spends most of her time liaising with the company’s vast clientele, advising them on general business and taxation matters.
Victoria is also responsible for the training requirements of qualified and experienced members of staff, ensuring they meet their training goals and keep up to date with the ever-changing tax legislation and financial reporting landscape.
Outside of work, Victoria enjoys spending time with her two children, walking or running on the fells, or enjoying one of Cumbria’s many lakes
Paula Boyd
Accounts Manager
Paula Boyd
Paula has worked in practice since 1986 with a 13-year break working as the Bursar of a local independent school.
She has been at JF Hornby & Co since September 2015 and is a member of our senior leadership team.
In addition to her accountancy duties, Paul is heavily involved in our community activity, and she is a Trustee of the Hornby Foundation.
Outside of work, Paula is involved with Barrow AFC and is a Trustee of the club’s Community Foundation.
When she has down time, her grandchildren keep her busy – along with her passion for Tudor history and her work as a numismatist.
