AN accountancy trainee from the Hornby Academy is celebrating – after reaching a major milestone on her journey to becoming fully qualified.
Carly Atkinson joined the company 18 months ago as a trainee chartered accountant – and has just passed her Level 3 AAT qualification.
Now she has her sights set on further success as she ups the ante and prepares to tackle the Level 7 ICAEW Chartered Accountancy qualification.
Carly said: “I’m absolutely delighted to have my Level 3 under my belt – it’s a real milestone and a big confidence boost. There’s still plenty to learn, but I’m looking forward to continuing to build my skills and progress towards becoming a fully qualified chartered accountant.
“I couldn’t have reached this point without the brilliant support of the team around me, and I’m genuinely grateful for everything they’ve done.”
Carly, a former UVHS Sixth Form pupil, joined the business at the age of 18, having developed an interest in accountancy during a period of work experience.
JF Hornby & Co has established a name for itself in recent years a business that is prepared to invest in the area’s young people, offering them an alternative to university by fully funding their training to chartered status.
To date, more than 20 people have been through the JF Hornby training programme and qualified as fully-fledged chartered accountants.
Managing Director Paul Hornby said: “Carly has been an outstanding addition to the team at JF Hornby & Co. She’s bright, inquisitive, enthusiastic and she is committed to making a positive impact. Her approach aligns perfectly with our ethos.
“We take great pride in offering opportunities to college leavers who choose a career in finance over university. As long as talented individuals are out there, we will continue to invest in their training and development.”
