Lucy has worked at J F Hornby & Co for over 2 years now, in this time she has become a confident operator.
After spotting an advert for an office junior position at the accountancy firm, Lucy applied for the role and was successful.
As part of her development, she was enrolled into a business admin and IT apprenticeship, which she successfully completed.
Lucy, a former St Bernard's school pupil and NHS worker, said: "I feel so much more confident having completed the apprenticeship and gained my diploma.
"When I started at Hornby's I knew very little about working in an office environment and the apprenticeship, along with my experience in the office, has really changed that.
"I have learnt life skills as well as my job responsibilities, and I am really happy in my role with the business."
Prior to joining J F Hornby & Co, Lucy had studied Applied Medical Sciences at Furness College and worked as an Auxiliary Nurse.
But after a year, she decided the career path was not for her, at which point she joined the award-winning accountancy firm.
The apprenticeship was completed at Gen II in Ulverston.
Paul Hornby is the managing director of JF Hornby and Co.
He said: "We operate in a very competitive marketplace when it comes to attracting talent, because we have such a large business in the shape of BAE on our doorstep.
"What that means is that we are very keen to train and invest in good people when we find them.
"Lucy is a fantastic addition to the team at JF Hornby. She is bright, dedicated and keen to learn and that is absolutely what we look for in potential employees."
Lucy spends two days of her week in the company's payroll department and the remainder of her time offering a wide range of business support functions to the team.
Lucy said: "It is the best thing I have ever done. I love being a part of the Hornby Accountancy Family."
